Why Barco Remains the Trusted Choice for Mission-Critical Control Rooms in India

A control room is where a city, a pipeline or a government department sees what is happening and decides what to do next. Across India, these rooms have moved from nice-to-have to essential. Under the Smart Cities Mission, Integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCCs) bring together traffic, CCTV, emergency response and civic services. Oil and gas operators run national pipeline networks from central SCADA rooms. Utilities, police and government departments rely on live dashboards to track performance and respond to incidents, often around the clock.

In all of these settings, the visual layer matters: the video wall, the controllers and the software that puts the right information in front of the right operator. As we discussed in The Evolving Role of Control Rooms in Modern Cities and How Video Walls Are Transforming India’s Smart City Control Rooms, a control room is only as good as the picture it gives its team. Barco has been one of the most familiar names in this space in India for decades. Here is a look at some of its recent Indian projects, and why, in our experience, it remains a strong choice for mission-critical work.

Recent Barco control room references in India

  • Puri ICCC, Odisha (2026): The Puri Integrated City Surveillance System, built for events such as the Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra, runs from an ICCC with a 9×4 Barco UniSee LCD video wall driven by an NSD-430 controller. According to Barco, the wall brings together live feeds from 461 CCTV cameras along with real-time crowd density analysis.
  • GAIL National Gas Management Centre, Noida (2026): GAIL’s SCADA control room, which has used Barco displays since 2003, upgraded to a 10×3 wall of 70-inch RGB laser ODL-721 rear-projection cubes with NSD-430 controllers running in redundant mode. Barco reports twice the brightness of the previous wall, and notes that the earlier system ran for over a decade without a single product failure.
  • Bengaluru Traffic Police TMC (2025): The Traffic Management Centre replaced ageing cubes with a 25 m x 5 m RGB laser ODL-721 wall made up of 64 cubes, with a dual-redundant architecture. The case study says more than 100 operators use it to manage traffic in a city of over 13 million vehicles.
  • C-DOT, New Delhi (2025): The telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications set up a 24/7 network operations centre with a 4×2 RGB laser ODL-721 video wall and Barco CTRL for KVM and content distribution (Barco case study).
  • Secure, Udaipur (2026): Secure’s Global Network Operations Centre uses Barco CTRL with a 16 m x 2 m COB LED video wall to bring several legacy monitoring systems into one centralised platform (Barco case study).

Taken together, these projects cover smart city surveillance, oil and gas, traffic, government telecom and enterprise operations, the same mix of sectors where India’s control room demand is growing fastest.

Why Barco for mission-critical control rooms in India

Built for 24×7 operation and redundancy. Mission-critical rooms cannot go dark. The references above show the pattern: redundant controllers with automatic failover at GAIL, a dual-redundant wall at Bengaluru TMC, and front-serviceable UniSee panels with optional redundant power supplies at Puri. Laser-lit rear-projection cubes, which Barco rates for over 125,000 hours at GAIL, also reduce how often operators have to plan for light-source replacement.

Local presence and prompt service. Barco has worked on control rooms in India for more than 30 years and lists over 4,000 installations in the country, with Experience Centres in Noida and Bengaluru, a local service desk and Make in India products (Barco Control Rooms India). In our experience at Trisim, this local presence makes a real difference: when something needs attention in a live control room, quick access to spares and engineers matters more than any datasheet figure.

Professional installation and commissioning. A video wall is only the visible part of a control room. Alignment, calibration, cabling, controller configuration and integration with SCADA, VMS or ITMS platforms all have to be done right on day one. In our experience, Barco’s project methodology and its trained partners help keep installations on schedule and hand over systems that work as specified. The GAIL project is a good example of a smooth upgrade, with Barco also handling the buy-back of the old wall.

A strong, certified partner ecosystem. Barco works through its Control Rooms Connect! partner programme, which includes sales and technical training, accreditation and access to pre-sales engineering support. For end users, this means projects are designed and delivered by integrators who know both the product and the local site conditions, with Barco’s own team behind them.

Software and integration. Barco CTRL brings operator desks and video walls together on one platform, so operators can work across multiple sources with one keyboard and mouse. For government and critical infrastructure buyers, Barco also lists ISO 27001 certification and VAPT certification by CERT-In among its credentials in India. Controllers such as the NSD-430 and the TransForm N platform round out the stack for larger or networked walls.

In our experience at Trisim, Barco remains the best choice for mission-critical control rooms in India, thanks to its prompt service, dependable installation support and an excellent partner ecosystem that stands behind every project.

Trisim and Barco

Trisim Global Solutions has partnered with Barco on many control room projects across Oil & Gas, Smart Cities and Government Departmental Dashboards. Across these projects, we have seen first-hand how Barco’s technology and support help operators stay focused on what matters: seeing clearly, deciding quickly and keeping critical services running.

As control rooms add AI and analytics, as with platforms such as Honeywell Forge Cognition, the display and visualisation layer becomes even more important, because more insight only helps if operators can see and act on it.
