Barco Opens Its Second India Experience Center in Bengaluru
This post argues that Barco’s new Control Rooms Experience Center in Bengaluru matters because it lets buyers test complete control-room workflows before they commit to projects that may stay in service for years.
Barco’s launch of its new Control Rooms Experience Center in Bengaluru is a welcome development for India’s command and control infrastructure ecosystem. Announced on 26 October 2026, the facility is the company’s second Control Rooms Experience Center in India, following its existing centre in Noida. Barco’s press release says the centre “recently opened”, and a Barco Control Rooms LinkedIn post from early September had already described its official opening.
The new centre gives customers, consultants and system integrators an opportunity to experience mission-critical visualization technologies in a practical environment, explore complete workflows and evaluate solutions before committing to projects that may remain operational for years. For a country investing in smart cities, public safety, critical infrastructure and enterprise operations, this is a timely initiative.
Customers can test workflows before they finalise requirements
Control rooms are no longer simply spaces with large video walls. They are operational environments where surveillance feeds, dashboards, GIS applications, network information and other critical data come together to support decisions. Choosing the right technology requires more than comparing specifications on paper. As we discussed in The Evolving Role of Control Rooms in Modern Cities, the picture the room gives its team is what counts.
Barco’s Bengaluru Experience Center brings visualization and collaboration technologies together in a dedicated demonstration environment. Customers can compare display options, explore control-room configurations and test workflows before finalizing requirements. The opening also strengthens Barco’s engagement with customers across South India, including government technology, global capability centres, IT services, semiconductor and aerospace businesses, and enterprise network and security operations.
Barco’s portfolio spans rear projection, LCD and LED, with CTRL tying it together
Barco’s portfolio covers several generations of control-room visualization technology, including rear-projection systems, LCD video walls and LED displays. For organizations operating established control rooms, moving to newer technology requires careful planning. Existing installations may continue to serve their purpose, while new requirements around resolution, space utilization, maintenance and lifecycle costs may justify an upgrade.
The Experience Center offers an opportunity to explore Barco CTRL, which combines control-room management capabilities with KVM-over-IP technology. Such platforms can help operators access and manage multiple sources and applications within a coordinated working environment. Cybersecurity is also important: Barco has highlighted vulnerability assessment and penetration testing certification by CERT-In-empanelled agencies for its CTRL platform. Customers should review applicable documentation and assess the platform against their wider security requirements.
Four Indian projects show how varied control-room environments are
The value of a control-room solution is ultimately determined by how effectively it supports the people operating it. India’s smart-city and public-sector projects demonstrate the variety of environments in which these technologies are required. For more on the smart-city side, see How Video Walls Are Transforming India’s Smart City Control Rooms.
- Guwahati Smart City — its Integrated Command and Control Centre brings together information from distributed city infrastructure to support centralized monitoring and situational awareness.
- Rourkela Smart City — an urban command and control environment where visualization supports the monitoring and coordination of civic operations.
- Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) — a control-room reference within India’s regulatory infrastructure.
- Department of Revenue Control Room, Cuttack, Odisha — a government-administration reference where centralized monitoring and operational visibility are relevant.
These projects underline why control rooms cannot be approached as standard display installations. Each facility has its own operational objectives, information sources, security requirements and integration challenges.
More than 30 years and 4,000+ installations in India
Barco’s Indian presence extends beyond its products. Its official control-room portfolio cites more than 30 years of experience in India and over 4,000 installations nationwide. In mission-critical environments, successful delivery depends on much more than supplying equipment. Engineering, site coordination, installation, system configuration, integration, testing, commissioning and after-sales support all contribute to the final outcome.
Barco’s established presence and structured approach to project delivery deserve appreciation. For customers and system integrators, project management is especially important when a control room must be integrated with existing infrastructure and commissioned against defined operational requirements. The ability to coordinate implementation and provide technical support throughout the warranty period can make a substantial difference.
An integrator’s view: execution and warranty support set Barco apart
Sourish Dey, Director at Trisim Global Solutions Pvt. Ltd., shares his perspective on Barco’s position in the control-room market:
“Over the years, I have realized that Barco is undoubtedly the best choice, not only for its innovative product portfolio, including cybersecurity-rated video controllers, but also for its exemplary project management skills and the support it provides throughout the warranty period.”
“In mission-critical projects, the technology itself is only one part of the equation. How effectively a project is planned, executed and supported after commissioning is equally important. Barco’s approach to these aspects is what makes the difference.”
For system integrators working on smart-city command centres, government facilities and other critical infrastructure projects, this combination of product innovation and execution capability is particularly valuable. Trisim’s earlier view on Barco is in Why Barco Remains the Trusted Choice for Mission-Critical Control Rooms in India.
Noida R&D and a Make in India portfolio back the commitment
Barco’s investment in the Bengaluru centre is part of a broader commitment to the Indian market. The company has highlighted its Noida research and development operations, local engineering talent and Make in India portfolio, which Barco lists as Barco UniSee 500+, Barco CTRL and the IBX-I LED platform. These efforts matter in a market where customers evaluate technology providers on local capabilities, technical support and their ability to meet long-term operational requirements.
Sanjay Katyal, identified by Barco as Sales Team Manager India, has emphasized secure technology, local support and staying close to customer projects. Tom Sys, EVP Barco Control Rooms, called India “one of the most dynamic control room markets in the world” in the same release. The initiative deserves recognition as a collective effort by Barco’s Indian and global teams.
Trisim’s view: a control room is measured by decisions, not video-wall size
Barco’s new Bengaluru Control Rooms Experience Center provides a dedicated environment where customers can evaluate visualization technologies, explore operator workflows and make better-informed decisions about mission-critical infrastructure. Combined with the existing Noida centre, Barco’s Indian presence, local engineering investments and broad visualization portfolio, the launch reinforces its commitment to the market.
Ultimately, a control room’s success is not measured by the size of its video wall, but by how effectively it enables people to make critical decisions. Barco’s Bengaluru Experience Center brings that conversation closer to India’s customers.
